Established in April 2003, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary Kuala Lumpur had its origins in a single-story wooden home in Setapak, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur. Pastor Dr. Mary Rayappan started the home with four children who were born into desperate conditions.
As the years went by, Pastor Mary accepted more children as a result of more parents reaching out to her. Today, the home operates about 20 steps away from its original house in a double-story home managed by Malar, Pastor Mary’s daughter in law.
Malar now oversees the welfare of 45 children, although this number changes based on needs and requests from government agencies and individuals. The children, aged between 1 and 20 years, have either been abandoned by their parents, many of whom are addicted to drugs or alcohol or have parents who are unable to look after them due to financial limitations, illness, or imprisonment.
Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary Kuala Lumpur is registered with the Registrar of Societies and the Government Welfare Department, Malaysia.
